Ethel G. Vass married James J. McLaughlin in 1942. This picture was taken in 1943.
They lived on Old Crow Road in Crow, West Virginia when they had a son - Patrick.
Granny (Ethel Gertrude Vass McLaughlin) :
She once worked at the Cool Cup in Beaver, West Virginia.
Granny had a sister, Alice; and a brother, Chester. There were 7 children in her family originally. Minnie (the Chewing Gum Lady) was one of her sisters.
She has one son, Patrick, and two grandchildren. Granny also had six great-grandchildren.
James J. McLaughlin - was in two wars and worked for the railroad. He lived in Hinton for some time and also in Crow and Beaver. He was 89 when he died in the early 1980's. He is now burried in Nimitz, West Virginia.
His father's name was also James J. McLaughlin. The elder J.J. McLaughlin came to America from Ireland. Warren McLaughlin was Grandad's brother.
Granny was Grandad's second wife. Though Patrick was his only child with Ethel, he also had children with his first wife. James McLaughlin III (from Grandad's first marriage) always stayed in touch with Granny. James III and his wife Mary lived in Delaware.
Grandad's daughter, Marie, and one other daughter lived in Hinton, West Virginia.
